About The Role

Uber Freight is looking for two Product Design Interns who naturally possess a passion for building products and tools that are powering a revolution in the freight and logistics industry!

You will research and build tools used by Fortune 500 shippers, our internal Uber Freight operations team, and carriers. We are looking for someone who loves to craft anything from a live-updating table of data to an insightful data visualization, all while doing the research to make the informed choices behind them. Help us build a brand-new business by applying creativity and critical thinking to tackle exciting and ambitious problems.

Uber Freight is looking for Product Design Interns on both the Carrier Experience and LL Teams!

What You’ll Do

  • Design simple, sophisticated experiences to simplify complex logistics workflows and processes.
  • Build wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs based on our UI framework to tackle difficult UX problems.
  • Collaborate with your cross functional team to build high-quality design solutions for your product.
  • Proactively solicit feedback and learning experiences from other designers to improve your design craft.

Basic Qualifications

  • Current student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in HCI, Graphic Design, or related field, with at least one semester/quarter remaining to complete
  • A portfolio showing your high quality, thoughtful UI and UX work
  • Availability to embark on an exciting 12-16 week internship focusing on a real-time, impactful business challenge to begin January 2022

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 months+ of internship or professional design experience
  • Ability to showcase your end-to-end design process across multiple projects, that include interaction and visual design artifacts and high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Proficient with visual design (typography, color, layout) and interaction design (defining how a design experience should behave to meet people’s needs).

About The Team

Look around you: everything you see in the built environment was at some point on a truck. The sophisticated interwoven world of freight allows for our modern way of life to exist by putting food in grocery stores, building materials at construction sites, and the clothes you wear on your back. But the $4 trillion freight industry is plagued with inefficiencies that go back decades. Wasted time, wasted effort, and missed earnings opportunities are the status quo. Enter Uber Freight: we connect shippers with truckers, much like the way that Uber connects riders and drivers. On the Uber Freight team, we believe that our dedication to transportation technologies will bring more collaborative, highly efficient, and increasingly safer transportation logistics to our roads.
