Minted is looking for a Rotational Associate, New Product Development, who has a passion for innovation and quality. Designed to be an exciting and rewarding entry into the world of Product Development, the Rotational Associate role is a 1-year assignment into our New Product Development team. The ideal candidate is someone who writes and communicates extremely well, has a strong command of graphic design and Adobe CS, is very detail-oriented, thrives in a fast paced environment, and understands the need to be agile.

Based in Minted’s San Francisco office, this role reports to the Director(s) of New Product Development and assists in the creation and development of new physical products (not technology, software or websites), supporting development projects across all categories. In this role, a successful candidate must have an eye for great design, be highly detail-oriented and organized, demonstrate excellent project management and communication skills. S/he should possess a positive can-do attitude, and be proactive yet flexible. This role requires in-office work (5 days per week). Candidates must demonstrate proof of up-to-date vaccination status, including COVID-19. The person in the role will be considered for a permanent position at Minted after the rotation is completed.

You Will

  • Take notes during product development meetings and distribute written weekly updates to cross-functional teams. Keep key project documents up-to-date with timelines and status; communicate to and follow up with cross-functional stakeholders to keep projects running smoothly and to keep the entire company informed.
  • Interface with external partners to manage sampling and prototyping processes, ensuring that all instructions and requests are clear and concise.
  • Open, process and track samples to ensure timely review and feedback. Ensure that packages shipped to/from vendors and senior management have clear, concise labels and instructions.
  • Set up sample and prototype boards or displays, as requested by the Director, NPD, to facilitate senior management conversations and reviews.
  • Develop and prepare physical or digital presentations for key stakeholders in the development and launch of new products. This includes design specifications, line drawings, file production/set up, source materials, and standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare mockups and prototypes for stationery, art, and textile products, and supporting cost analysis.
  • Execute file prep and graphic design work for designs to be printed on samples.
  • Maintain and organize the New Product Development team’s library of raw materials, samples, and prototypes; clearly label all samples and vendor catalogs to reflect most up to date offering and availability.
  • Benchmark competitors to understand Minted’s competitive landscape and opportunities; gather consumer insight to support new product research and strategy.
  • Occasionally move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. This role entails physically moving displays, boxes and other visual materials.

You Have

  • An eye for great design and intuitive understanding of what customers want, but also what constitutes truly differentiated and high-quality products.
  • Thirst for knowledge and passion for new tools and equipment.
  • Exceptional and obsessive detail orientation and organization to ensure flawless execution.
  • Strong Google Slides, Sheets, Docs/Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel, Word skills.
  • Comfort with cloud storage, file sharing and FTP programsSuperior communication skills via email and phone; experience working directly with partners and suppliers.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative SuitePrototyping skills and/or previous exposure to or understanding of print, art, textile, home decor manufacturing capabilities and substrates preferred.
  • 4 year degree - double major of English and Graphic Design preferred.
