Check is a payroll-as-a-service API that lets you embed payroll directly in your vertical SaaS, HR, or time-tracking platform. Our API abstracts away the complexities of running payroll: tax calculation, remittance, and filing, plus the movement of money between companies and employees. This enables companies to easily build fully integrated payroll products to offer to their customers.

At Check, the Business Operations & Finance team is tasked with guiding decision-making, optimizing processes, and ensuring the broader team is enabled with the resources they need. Our work involves deep analyses of financial and operational data, developing deep partnerships across the organization, and effectively communicating insights to the team.

For this role, we are seeking a self-starter who is keen to collaborate with functional leads to understand business needs, create frameworks & analysis to solve critical strategic and operational challenges, and support & communicate decision-making in a fast-paced environment. As an early member of the team, you will have an opportunity to design and build the systems, processes, and strategies that will shape how Check operates as we scale.  This role is ideal for someone eager to contribute across all business disciplines at a high-growth fintech startup.

In this role, you will:

    • Work with key stakeholders across the go-to-market organization to better understand and predict the customer journey from first contact to revenue
    • Build self-driven and ad hoc analyses and leverage your findings to improve our systems & operational processes
    • Define, track, and explore key metrics with various functional leaders
    • Propose & implement changes to our business systems to better support our functional leaders
    • Build & maintain financial models for planning, executive reviews, and board meetings
    • Support our customer-facing teams by creating enablement tools & materials
    • Research and identify prospective strategic partnerships

Many backgrounds could fit this role, but ideal candidates will have:

    • 2-4 years of experience in an analytical role. Examples include (but are not limited to) management consulting, investment banking, and business or other operations at a technology company
    • Strong communication skills and a desire to collaborate with others
    • An entrepreneurial mindset
    • Intellectual curiosity and comfort navigating uncertainty
    • Excited to work with a distributed team
    • Knowledge of or experience with sales & marketing software (e.g. Salesforce, Hubspot) is preferred
    • Prior experience with SQL and / or BI tools is preferred
    • Are willing to travel to our SF and NYC hubs
